Frisco families can kick off the Halloween-season countdown with four hours of music, crafts, animal encounters and local discoveries at DFW Fall Fest on Saturday, October 17. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Frisco Fresh Market, 9215 John W. Elliott Drive. Admission and parking are free, but organizers say visitors must reserve free tickets in advance.

A fall celebration with plenty for children to do

The festival promises pumpkin-themed fun, DIY crafts, face painting, a petting zoo, interactive games and seasonal photo opportunities. Character appearances, balloon artists and giveaways are among the attractions highlighted by Visit Frisco. That variety makes the outing flexible: younger children can spend time with hands-on activities while older kids gravitate toward music, games and stage performances. Attractions may have queues, so consider picking two or three favorites rather than trying to do everything at once.

The stage schedule: music, dance and a Taylor Swift tribute

The organizer's published entertainment lineup begins with School of Rock Frisco from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by The Dance Studio Network from 11 to 11:10. RockStars of Tomorrow takes the stage from 11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.; Next Step Dance with the Junior Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders follows until 12:20. School of Rock returns from 12:20 to 12:50, Express Cheer performs from 12:50 to 1 p.m., and a Taylor Swift tribute from The Major Music Company is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m. Performance times may change, so use the organizer's schedule on event day.

More than a festival: meet the businesses serving Frisco families

DFW Fall Fest also functions as a community marketplace. Families can connect with local camps, schools, after-school programs, activity providers and healthcare organizations while browsing vendors. This can be especially useful for parents planning the next school break or looking for a new extracurricular activity. Ask exhibitors about ages served, enrollment periods, pricing and trial opportunities. Local entrepreneurs benefit, too: a conversation at a booth can introduce a small business to neighbors who might not discover it online.

What to eat and how to plan your visit

Frisco Fresh Market vendors offer food and treats for purchase. Bring a payment method for snacks or shopping, even though entry is free. Comfortable walking shoes, water and sun protection are sensible choices for an outdoor daytime event in North Texas. If you are attending with small children, arrange a meeting point in case anyone gets separated and allow extra time for parking and lines. The organizer advertises free parking, but a popular family event can still draw significant traffic.

Free tickets are required

The most important detail is easy to miss: free does not mean walk-in admission without a reservation. The event's official website says tickets are required and directs visitors to its Eventbrite registration. Reserve ahead of time, keep the confirmation accessible on your phone and check the official site for any last-minute changes. DFW Fall Fest is organized by the DFW Family Directory, with the festival advertised as a chance to connect families to regional programs and businesses.

Make it part of your Frisco weekend

The event finishes at 2 p.m., leaving the afternoon open for another outing. Visitors who enjoy browsing markets can spend extra time exploring the surrounding Frisco Fresh Market area, subject to individual vendor hours. Families seeking additional Halloween-season ideas can pair the festival with a pumpkin-patch visit later in the month. The appeal is straightforward: accessible seasonal entertainment, a chance to discover local resources and a full morning of shared experiences without a paid admission ticket.

Plan your visit: Reserve free tickets and see the official schedule. Details were checked against the organizer's published information on October 14, 2026.

9215 John W. Elliott Drive is clear enough for planning. A 10 a.m. Start also fits between our usual Saturday errands.

Glad that timing works for your Saturday, the festival runs from 10 a.m. To 2 p.m. At Frisco Fresh Market, 9215 John W. Elliott Drive, with free parking on site.

The address on John W. Elliott Drive and the hours are easy to use for planning. We will reserve tickets and keep the confirmation on my phone.

    Megan Brooks· Oct 17, 7:54 PM

Ending at 2 p.m. Feels early once you count parking and lines. A fall fest could use another hour if people are driving across town.

    • J
      jennyk· Oct 18, 12:03 PM

Megan BrooksMaybe if you drove across town. For us 2 is plenty. After that the kids are done and we still have the afternoon free.

      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 18, 7:45 PM

The published schedule does wrap at 2 p.m., which leaves the afternoon open for another outing, though we hear you that parking and lines can eat into a morning that already feels short for families driving across town.

    Amy L.· Oct 17, 2:57 PM

The meeting point suggestion is useful if you have small kids in a crowd. I have lost track of mine near lines like that before.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 19, 10:37 AM

Thank you, with queues and a busy family crowd, picking a meeting spot ahead of time, plus a little extra time for parking and lines, can make the morning much smoother.

    Kevin Brooks· Oct 17, 12:59 AM

I am less interested in the vendor fair than the music and games. A booth full of school and healthcare pitches may not feel very festive.

    • J
      josh_t· Oct 17, 5:25 PM

Kevin BrooksI get that. I might still poke around the booths for a few minutes if a camp has something hands on, but the music is why we are going.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 18, 9:09 AM

The stage is a full morning on its own, from School of Rock at 10 a.m. Through the Taylor Swift tribute at 1 p.m., and the games and crafts are there whenever you'd rather skip the booths.

  • JE
    Jordan Ellis· Oct 16, 8:52 PM

The Junior Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders only have about ten minutes. We will stay by the stage so we do not miss that short set.

    • B
      brett_h· Oct 18, 4:14 AM

Jordan EllisWe are doing the same. Ten minutes goes fast if you wander off for a craft. Staying by the stage is the only way we will catch it.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 18, 1:51 PM

That is a smart plan, Next Step Dance with the Junior Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders is listed for only about ten minutes, ending at 12:20, and the organizer notes that performance times may still change on event day.

  • S
    sarah.m· Oct 16, 7:47 PM

Wrapping up at 2 p.m. Leaves the afternoon open, which works for us. A pumpkin patch later in the month is a nice follow up.

    • PR
      Patty R.· Oct 17, 6:48 AM

sarah.mWorks for us too. Morning at the fest, then home for a nap. Pumpkin patch can wait for the next weekend.

  • TA
    Tom Alvarez· Oct 16, 7:13 PM

School of Rock playing twice gives late arrivals a second chance. I would still confirm times the morning of the event.

    • M
      mia_k· Oct 17, 7:11 AM

Tom AlvarezSmart. A kids show ran long at another event we did and everything after it slid. I will check the site before we head out.

  • PW
    Patty W.· Oct 16, 5:27 PM

I wonder if the petting zoo is calm enough for a three year old. The games sound better for older kids, and I want to avoid a meltdown.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 18, 3:53 AM

The listing does not describe how calm the animals will be, but it does note that younger children can focus on hands-on activities while older kids gravitate toward games and the stage, so following your three-year-old's pace is the safest approach.

  • CA
    Chris Alvarez· Oct 16, 12:04 AM

Free entry is welcome, but the food is all for purchase. I will bring a few snacks so we are not stuck in a vendor line.

    • M
      mike_r22· Oct 16, 10:12 PM

Chris AlvarezWe are packing snacks too. Last outdoor thing we did, the food line ate half our time.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 17, 2:11 PM

Bringing a few snacks is a practical backup, entry is free, but Frisco Fresh Market vendors sell food and treats, so a payment method is still worth having if you decide to buy something.

  • PN
    Priya N.· Oct 15, 10:10 PM

Face painting and the petting zoo are the reasons we would go. I am bringing water and sun protection for an outdoor morning.

    • LM
      Lena M.· Oct 16, 7:58 PM

Priya N.Same for us. The petting zoo is what got my kids on board. Water bottles and hats are already by the door.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 17, 8:13 AM

Face painting and the petting zoo are among the attractions Visit Frisco highlights, and water plus sun protection are smart choices for an outdoor North Texas morning.

    robb_w· Oct 15, 9:28 PM

Requiring a reservation for a free event may surprise some people. Families who show up without tickets could be out of luck.

    • DS
      Derek S.· Oct 16, 12:40 PM

robb_wYeah, that one is easy to miss. I almost figured free meant just walk in. Glad they put it in the article.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 16, 6:30 PM

You're right that the reservation rule can catch people off guard, tickets are required even though they're free, so families should register ahead and keep the confirmation handy on a phone.

  • LC
    Linda Chen· Oct 15, 2:51 PM

Booths for camps and after school programs are what I would actually stop for. It is a practical way to compare options for the next school break.

  • SN
    Sarah Nguyen· Oct 15, 1:14 PM

School of Rock at 10 gives us a reason to arrive on time. The cheer and dance groups later look like a nice break for the younger kids.

    • TQ
      Teresa Q.· Oct 16, 5:08 PM

Sarah NguyenThat 10 a.m. Slot works for us too. Gets everyone settled before the little ones get restless waiting around.

  • R
    robert_m· Oct 15, 4:08 AM

I am less interested in the camp and healthcare booths than the music. Those tables can make a kids morning feel like a sales pitch.

    • SL
      Sandra L.· Oct 15, 8:49 PM

robert_mI feel that. A quick hello is fine, but I do not want the whole morning spent getting pitched on camps.

  • LC
    Linda Cho· Oct 15, 12:44 AM

The note about water and sun protection is useful. An outdoor morning in Frisco can still feel hot by 11 in October.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 16, 9:47 PM

Glad that tip helped, water and sun protection are worth packing, since an outdoor daytime event in North Texas can warm up well before noon even in October.

  • JP
    James Patel· Oct 14, 11:49 PM

We parked at that market for another event and the lot filled before noon. Free parking helps, but I would still leave early.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 16, 6:44 AM

Your experience lines up with the organizer's own caution: parking is free, but a popular family event can still fill the lot, so leaving early and allowing extra time is the safer plan.

    • PG
      Paul G.· Oct 16, 4:33 PM

James PatelHeard the same from a neighbor. We are leaving the house by 9:15 so we are not circling for a spot.

  • K
    kim_87· Oct 14, 11:40 PM

My daughter only cares about the Taylor Swift tribute at 1. I hope the earlier dance groups do not push that time back.

    • EV
      Elena V.· Oct 16, 10:35 AM

kim_87Same worry over here. If the earlier groups run long I hope they still start that tribute at 1. My daughter will not sit through much else.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 16, 11:26 AM

The Taylor Swift tribute from The Major Music Company is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m., but the organizer says performance times may change, so it is worth checking the official schedule that morning before you head over.

  • DT
    Dave Thompson· Oct 14, 7:38 PM

The petting zoo and face painting will draw a crowd. I would do those early and skip trying to catch every act on the stage.

    • ON
      Omar N.· Oct 15, 8:23 AM

Dave ThompsonAgreed. Those two always back up. I would rather miss a song than stand in the face paint line at noon.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 16, 12:32 PM

That matches the festival's own advice: attractions may have queues, so choosing two or three favorites, such as the petting zoo and face painting, is a better bet than trying to see every stage act.

  • MG
    Maria G.· Oct 14, 6:55 PM

I like that they spelled out the free ticket rule. A lot of families would show up at Frisco Fresh Market and get turned away without a reservation.

  • JP
    James P.· Oct 14, 9:16 AM

Parking at Frisco Fresh Market gets tight when something popular is going on. I would get there before 10 even though parking is free.

    • EV
      Elena V.· Oct 15, 8:39 AM

James P.Agreed. We circled that lot forever at a busy market day last spring. We are leaving the house around 9:30.

  • K
    kim_87· Oct 14, 8:43 AM

My daughter will want the Taylor Swift tribute at 1 p.m. I just hope that slot stays put if the schedule shifts.

    • TG
      Travis G.· Oct 14, 1:07 PM

kim_87I would get over there a little before 1 just in case. My niece is counting on that tribute too.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 14, 8:50 PM

The Taylor Swift tribute from The Major Music Company is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m., though the organizer notes times may shift, so it's worth checking the official schedule that morning.

  • DT
    Dave Thompson· Oct 14, 6:27 AM

With crafts, a petting zoo, and stage shows packed into four hours, I would not try to see everything. Two or three favorites seems like the right plan.

    • RP
      Ron P.· Oct 14, 1:15 PM

Dave ThompsonThat is our plan too. Face painting and one stage show, then we call it. Trying to hit every booth just wears the little ones out.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 15, 11:28 PM

That's the approach we'd suggest too, with crafts, animal encounters and stage shows packed into four hours, two or three favorites beats trying to do it all.

  • MG
    Maria G.· Oct 14, 2:32 AM

I like that they flagged the ticket rule up front. Free admission still means you have to reserve before Saturday.

    • RB
      Raza BeggAuthor· Oct 14, 6:07 AM

We're glad that detail stood out, free admission still means a reserved ticket through the organizer's Eventbrite page, so it's worth locking one in before Saturday.
